What We Fix
Five of the MacBook problems we see most. Each one has the full story on what actually fails and what it takes to fix it.
MacBook Won't Turn On
No power, no chime, black screen. We trace it to the actual fault instead of guessing at a board swap.

Component-level board repair, not a full board swap, so your original board and your data stay in the machine.

Files stuck on a MacBook that won't power on. We get the machine readable again and recover what's there.

Spills and corrosion, cleaned and assessed before any repair, with a clear quote before we start.

Dead battery, bad port, or a charging circuit on the board. We find which one it is and fix that.

For over 15 years we have done board-level MacBook repair in-house in Wicker Park, the kind of work most shops mail out or will not touch. We repair the component that failed instead of swapping the whole board, which keeps your data in the machine and the cost a fraction of a replacement.
Pricing is honest and explained up front. Apparent issues like a screen or battery get a free check. Board-level work starts with an $80 diagnosis ($100 for liquid damage, which takes more time to evaluate) that tells you exactly what failed and what it costs, and it applies toward the repair if you go ahead. You decide before we touch anything.
We service every MacBook: Intel, T2, and Apple Silicon machines from M1 through M5, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, including models the big-box stores turn away for being too old. Walk in Monday through Saturday, no appointment needed.

Common Questions
- Every model. Intel, T2, and Apple Silicon machines from M1 through M5, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, including models the manufacturer no longer supports. There is no cutoff date here. If a big-box store or authorized shop turned your machine away for being too old, bring it in.
- It depends on the repair. Apparent issues like a screen or battery get a free check. Board-level work starts with an $80 diagnosis ($100 for liquid damage) that tells you exactly what failed and what it costs, and that fee applies toward the repair if you go ahead. Either way, you get a full quote before any work begins.
- Standard repairs are often same day, or about 2 to 3 business days if a part has to come in. Board-level work is different: the diagnosis takes 2 to 3 business days because finding one failed component is measurement work, and the repair is usually another 2 to 4 days after that, up to about a week total depending on severity. We never quote same-day for board-level repairs.
- No. Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 5:30 PM, at 1719 W North Ave in Wicker Park. A real technician looks at your machine the same day, in the store. Closed Sundays.
- 1719 W North Ave in Wicker Park, Chicago, a short walk north from the Damen Blue Line stop with easy street parking out front. We see customers from across Wicker Park and Lincoln Park, and plenty who come up from the Loop and South Loop.
